High Court fines Aviation Minister GHc2, 000 over his failure to show up in court(Lawyer’s CONTACT)
Sunyani High Court has fined a former Deputy Minister for Aviation GHc2,000 over his failure to showing up in court.
The former Deputy Minister, also a former Member of Parliament (MP) for Jaman South Constituency in the Bono Region, Hon. Yaw Afful was to appear before Sunyani High Court together with his Lawyer(s) for the hearing of a case he filed against a broadcast Journalist and the host of Kiss Fm morning show, Akroma Deefour.
However, when the case was called today at the Sunyani High Court(Commercial Court), the plaintiff and his counsel failed to show up for the hearing processes to begin.
Failing to appear before the court, Lawyer for Akroma Deefour, Alexander Amponsah pray that, the court strike out the motion to join Kiss FM to the substantive case with a cost.
The presiding judge who was not happy with the plaintiff’s refusal to show up in court today granted the Lawyer’s plea and strikes out the motion with a fine of GH1, 000.

On the substantive case, the defendant Lawyer again moves that the case should be adjourned since the plaintiff and his lawyer(s) are not in court and also asked the court for another GH1, 000 fine for wasting the court’s time of which it was granted.
Meanwhile, the case is adjourned to February 23, 2022.
The former Jaman South Legislator, Hon. Yaw Afful in September 2021 filed a defamation suit at Sunyani High Court against the morning show host of a Drobo-based radio station(Kiss FM), Akroma Deefour.
The case which was first called on 15th December, 2021 was adjourned to Wednesday February 2, 2022.
