Tano North NCCE embarks on constitution week celebration
National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), Tano North Municipal Directorate as part of its CONSTITUTIONAL WEEK Celebration 2023 engaged twenty Identifiable groups in the Municipality under the theme “Thirty Years of Constitutional Democracy:
Building National Cohesion through Civic Education and Participation in Local Governance.
Some of the groups the office engaged were Nyame Wo Tumi Association ( Tanokrom), Peace Susu Group (Nsuapemkrom), Unity Group (Campso), Mmaa Mpuntuo Association (Boaso), Songtaa Group ( Bichiem) among others.
The Municipal Director, Mr. Joseph Oduro-Buabeng who addressed the the groups tasked them to live in peace and harmony with one another in their communities irrespective of their religious,political and tribal affiliations.
He said if there is no peace in the Municipality definitely there will be no development.
He made them aware that the recently Chieftaincy issue at Bomaa which led to the imposition of curfew at the area cost the Municipal Assembly over Two Hundred Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHC 200,000) which could have been used to construct school buildings or other social amenities for the people but it was used to cater for security personnels who were deployed to the area.
He again, tasked them to participate in the upcoming District Level Elections to ensure that they elect people who understand the Local Government concept well so that they can lobby for development at their respective electoral areas.
Mr Joseph Oduro-Buabeng encouraged the women to also avail themselves for Elections into the Assembly so that women views can be heard.
This exercise was carried out to empower communities and especially women to participate in the District Level Elections.
The groups participated by asking questions to make the week celebration a successful one.
The program started at 8th May 2023 and ended at 12th May 2023
