The event celebrated annually on  March 8, aimed to celebrate achievements of women and  drawing  the attention of duty bearers to break the gender gap in society.

Speaking to newsmen, Nana Fosuhemaa Baah said, the act of not giving opportunities to women in governance make it difficult for the men in governance to take decision regarding the welfare of women and children.

She added that, there is the need for Ghanaian women to rise up and break the barriers that prevent them from climbing the ladder to gain top positions.

Nana Fosuhemaa Baah indicated that, giving women opportunity in governance can help develop the country as some women appointees in governance are performing well than some of the men.
