KABAKA Foundation Inaugurates Kwahu-Nkwatia Divisional Police Headquarters
A well furnished storey office complex facilitated by KABAKA Foundation for Kwahu-Nkwatia Divisional Police Command in the Kwahu East District of the Eastern region was inaugurated on Friday, 28th October, 2022.
Nana Owiredu Wadie (i) Nkosuohene of Nkwatia is tremendously embarking on a series of projects and life’s changing initiatives undertaken by his social intervention foundation at Kwahu Nkwatia and beyond.
Nana Boamah Ayirepe iii, Kwahu Nkwatiahene on behalf of KABAKA foundation also presented to the police, a key of a brand-new 2022 model of 4×4 pickup to help patrolling Nkwatia enclave to beef up security in the area.
The Eastern regional police commander, DCOP Anderson Fosu Ackah used the commissioning to acknowledge the former IGP Mr. James Oppong Boanu for elevating the Kwahu-Nkwatia Police Station to the status of a District Police Command.
Speaking on be half of the IGP, Dr. George Akufo Dampare, the regional commander again commended Mr. Oppong Boanu for his foresight to create Nkwatia Divisional Police Command for which reason they gathered on Friday.
DCOP Anderson Fosu Ackah said beyond having structures as a basis for providing policing, personnel would go into the communities to constantly engage citizenry as Police visibility widened to ward off criminals.
The regional commander also commended the Kwahu Nkwatia Nkosuohene, Nana Wadie for the headquarters facility and assured that personnel would use the facility to deepen policing in the area and continue to keep its residents safer.
The Executive Director for KABAKA foundation, Mr. Henry Lartey, told Kaakyire Kwasi Afari of Afeema FM that the foundation is more keen on addressing societal challenges confronting the majority of Ghanaians especially in Kwahu environs ranging from Education, Health, Sanitation and Social intervention.
Mr. Henry Lartey reveals that the headquarters building, furnished by KABAKA foundation was necessitated upon a request from the Chiefs and elders in Nkwatia to get a befitting venue for the creation of the new Divisional Command.
He believes the Divisional Command will coordinate and have oversight responsibility of the operations of District police commands in Kwahu-Nkwatia.
For his part, Nana Agya Yeboah Asuamah the Mawerehene who represented Kwahu Paramount Chief bemoan about the wanton destruction of lives and property by Fulani Herdsmen.
According to the Chief, the havoc caused by cattles and their activities calls for stringent actions from the police in Kwahu.
Nana Agya Yeboah Asuamah said that, sometimes they are attacked by the herders if they as much as question their activities therefore, he charged the police to work tirelessly to prevent other cases like rape and robbery in the area.
However, he commended the Akufo-Addo administration for constructing a cattle ranch to minimize the incessant clashes between Fulani herdsmen and indigenous people of Kwahu Afram Plains.
Nana Adwoa Gyemfua iii, the Queen Mother of Kwahu Traditional Area speaking in a sideline interview with Afeema FM’s journalist Kaakyire Kwasi Afari, she appealed to residents to volunteer information to the police to enable the police to clamp down on crime.
The Queen Mother stressed that since Kwahu is declared as a tourism hub in Ghana, she called on the security agencies to initiate additional measures towards strengthening security at the various tourist sites in Kwahu and create a safe business environment to boost the sector.
Nana Adwoa Gyemfua iii, appeals that fighting crime is a shared responsibility, therefore, the public is expected to volunteer credible information to the police to help weed out miscreants from Kwahu.
