The Kumasi Traditional Council (KTC) has asked Oyerepa FM, a radio station in Kumasi of the Ashanti Region to shut.
This was made known to the press today, August 25, 2022, by Bantamahene, Baffour Owusu Amankwatia (VI), on behalf of the Council.
Bantamahene, the Acting President of the Kumasi Traditional Council says, the order takes immediate effect from Friday, August 26.
Checks from the Council by Filasconews.com unearthed that, the Traditional Authorities want the station to showing remorse over the incident that happened on their FM station by shutting down.
It would be recalled that, the Founder and Leader of UPP, Kwasi Addai Odike has banned from Manhyia Palace by Kumasi Traditional Council over his unjustified comments made on Oyerepa TV and Radio.
Odike accused chiefs in the region for their involvement in Galamsey activities and also alleged to have incited the youths against the Chiefs.
However, Odike was banned by the Council.
Meanwhile, a team from Oyerepa TV and Radio was invited to Manhyia Palace to render an apology for happening.
But unfortunately, the unhappy chiefs led by Bantamahene gave the order.
They have asked the station to publicly apologize on air to the Chiefs and also shut down with immediate effect by Friday, August 26, 2022, to show respect to Manhyia and as a sign of remorse over the incident.
According to Bantamahene on behalf of the Council, the shut down order would be effective till the end of the matter.
