“Nothing came out from the meeting, Strike continues”-NAGRAT Vice

The Vice President of the National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT), Mr. Jacob Anaaba has revealed today, Thursday, July 7, 2022, that, their meeting with the government ended in vain.

Speaking on Omanbapa Morning Show hosted by Nana Kwabena Ampratwum on Silver FM, Mr. Anaaba, the meeting was unconcluded as the bodies that represented Government failed to meet their demands.

He disclosed that, GES, TUC and other government representatives in the meeting held yesterday, Wednesday, July 6, 2022, wanted the Teacher Unions to return to the classrooms while negotiating but they refused.

“We cannot ask our members to return to the teaching board while their grievances are not resolved and demands not met”, the NAGRAT Vice President added in the interview monitored by Filasconews.com.

Whether they are backing down on their strike in the meantime or not, Mr. Jacob Anaaba said, unless the demands of the various teacher Unions namely the National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT), the Coalition of Concerned Teachers(CCT), Ghana Association of Teachers(GNAT) and the Teachers and Educational Workers Union (TEWU) are settled, they will not back down the strike action.

The Four teacher Unions are on strike o over Cost of Living Allowance (COLA).

Meanwhile, the government is considering on using National Service Personnel to teach in the schools at the absence of the striking teachers.
