IMF not an OPTION- Chartered Economist

Chartered Economist says Ghana going to International Monetary Fund (IMF) for economic management is not the best.

Ghana returning to the IMF became a bone of contention in the country recently.

All the indications of the economy according to some Economist give the green light to Ghana to seek for help from IMF.

Mr. George Antwi Boasiako, an Economist, in some few days interview with Filasconews.com said, the government should go to IMF.

The government initially chose the introduction of the Electronic Levy (e-Levy) over IMF.

But, in a statement emanating from the presidency today, Friday, July 1, 2022, sighted by Filasconews.com points out that, the President has directed the Finance Minister, Hon. Ken Ofori Atta to begin IMF process.

This means, the country Ghana is returning to the International Monetary Fund to manage its economy for the 17th times.

Giving his submission on whether the government should go to IMF or not, Mr. Enoch Okona, Chartered Economist, said on Kumasi based Silver FM’s Omanbapa Morning Show hosted by Nana Kwabena Ampratwum that, IMF is not an option for Ghana.

He said, the government can internally generate money to fund the economy

“I don’t Ghana returning to IMF, We’ve been there for 16th times but we have seen no benefits.

So if you are asking me this time, I will say IMF is not an option”, Mr. Okona added on the program monitored by Filasconews.com.
