The Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools (CHASS) has set the record straight on the recently completed BECE students schools placement book brouhaha.

The placement book contains names of various schools in the country to be selected by the students in order to further their education into the senior high school level.

There had been numerous report about selling of the placement book to students.

Some school heads especially in the Ashanti Region are exorbitantly charging their students for the schools placement book.

Reacting to the issue on Silver FM’s morning show today, November 30,2021, the General Secretary of CHASS, Mr. Kwame Owusu Aduomi stated that, the acquisition of copies of the schools placement book for JHS leavers to select their preferred schools is free of charge.

He opined that, JHS leavers from government schools are to acquire the copy freely.

He told Nana Nana Ampratwum, the host, that, because of the government’s Free Senior High School policy, the placement book is free for all and students are not to pay even a penny for placement sheet thus, school heads of all government schools advised to desist from charging students.

The National Secretary of CHASS stressed that, “it is illegal for teachers or heads to charge students before making available to them the placement book”.
