Cocoa farmers to suspend business from the market from December 1

Cocoa Farmers in Ghana will from December 1,2021 suspend all their farms foodstuffs from the market till government addresses their concerns.

President of the Ghana National Cocoa Farmers Association (GNACOFA), Mr. Stevenson Anane Boateng who made this known to the press in Kumasi said, selling of their cocoa beans on the market to the government will be halted.

The cocoa farmers have raised concerns about the implementation of the cocoa farmers pension scheme.

To them, the procedure and handling of the scheme is wrong hence untill government addresses the issues raised by them, their farm produce will stay off from the market coming December 1, till further notice.

However, the oncoming 2021 National Farmers Day is slated for Friday, December 3, 2021.

The President of GNACOFA has also opined that, all cocoa farmers will boycott the occasion to register their displeasure to government.

“On 3rd December, the over 500,000 cocoa farmers across the length and breadth of this country will not attend the 2021 national farmers day”, he stressed.
