The Public Relations Officer for Social Democrats (SD), a civil society group in Ghana, Mr Kofi Brown has expressed worry that, the 2022 Budget read by the finance minister on Wednesday has nothing good to offer Ghanaians.
Mr Kofi Brown in an interview with Kwaku Mensah Abrampa on Gye Nyame FM said that, the budget has no iota of hope and future prospects for the ordinary Ghanaians hence the unwillingness of the NPP government to support the citizenry for better livelihood.
He stressed that, though the numerous taxes imposed on Ghanaians may generate revenue for the government but the hardship that hit businesses and citizens as a result of covid 19 is still at hand therefore government must reconsider and reduce the rate of taxes imposed on us to trim down the hardship.
On the issue of the proposed Youstart initiative which according to the finance minister will seek to empower Young entrepreneurs, Mr Kofi Brown commended the government for such initiative and pleaded with the finance ministry and the government to do away with high interest rate to make it available for everyone to have access to the initiative. He said the initiative when implemented well will help reduce unemployment situations in the country.
