The police are not corrupt but the public or the citizenry through their influence Corrupt the police officers, DSP Francis Ackah has said.
According to the New-Edubiase District Police Commander in Ashanti Region, the perception that the police is corrupt is neither here nor there.
DSP Ackah in an interview with the press today said, the giver and the taker are all corrupt this citizens should refrain from tagging the police always as corrupt but accuse themselves too.
“How can the police be corrupted if the citizens are not corrupt? It is the drivers that always compel our men on the highways and at the barriers with money knowing their mistakes to pave their way through which shouldn’t be so”, he stressed.
“You put money in your driving licence and handover to the police after that, you accused him or her of corrupt. Accuse yourself first”, he added.
He used the occasion to appeal to the general public to be discipline on the road and drive with genuine particulars and stop given alms to some police officers. DSP also advice his colleagues found of such behaviour to desist from it warning that the police heads will not tolerate and shield any corrupt officer.
