Constitutional Lawyer, George Kofi Bekai has opined that, parliament did not help the embattled Madina MP, Hon. Francis Xavier Sosu in rectifying his issue with the police earlier on.
He said parliament should’ve not strengthen the matter to this stage for the security agency to summon the MP through court order adding that the case could’ve been resolved amicably and peacefully if parliament released their colleague earlier to assist the police with their investigation.
The Madina MP, Hon. Francis Xavier Sosu and his constituents staged a demonstration and allegedly blocked roads and burnt tyres unlawfully according to the police in the Madina communities.
The police proceeded to the scene during the demonstration to arrest the MP to answer some questions but the MP resisted and his also interrupted the police to do their work.
However, speaker of parliament, Hon. Aban Bagbin stressed that, he will not released the MP for the police.
Secondly, the police tracked the MP to arrest him at his but was unsuccessful.
All efforts by the police to get the MP proved futile due to the rigid unhealthy support amassed for him by parliament.
It took the court to grant the police an order to get the MP to court on November 8, 2021, Monday.
This according to the constitutional Lawyer was unnecessary if not parliament especially speaker and the minority caucus hanged up the police initial moves to invite the Madina MP.
Commenting on the issue on Omanbapa Morning Show on Silver FM, a Kumasi based radio station monitored by filasconews.com, the Constitutional elaborated that, he’s looking out to parliament, to also prevent the Madina MP not to go to court on Monday.
“I want Parliament to at this time, advice Lawyer Sosu to also turn down the court order to the police to appear in court on November 8 to prove and cement their support to him and they will see how the law bites individuals who flout it”, he told the host, Nana Ampratwum.
