The government has initiated a move to provide tablets for every Senior High School (SHS) student in the country.
This was disclosed by the Vice President, Dr. Alhaji Mahamadu Bawumia during his public lecture on the digital economy at Ashesi University in Accra on Tuesday, November 2.
It was part of the government’s efforts to make education better and lucrative in the country.
On Omanbapa show today on Silver FM, host, Nana Ampratwum together with his panelists: Mr. Clement Acheampong popularly known as Ache (Tutor at Prempeh College,Historian and a Political Analyst) and Mr. Emmanuel Owusu a.k.a Senior (Lecturer at Prempeh College, Certified Marriage Councilor and political analyst) discussed the topic… One student one tablet, is it feasible?
Firstly, Mr. Emmanuel Owusu appreciated the move but admonished parents to take responsibility of the tablets acquisition for their wards as government is already over burdened.
He said looking at the situation on the ground currently, though the Vice President has said government will provide the device but to him, the government do not have the muscle now to acquire the device for every student in the country.
“I think is good initiative but the government should allow parents buy them for their wards to alleviate some pressure on the economy”, he stressed.
On his part, Mr. Clement Acheampong advised the state not to downplay the capabilities of Senior High School students.
He was of the view that, if care not taking, “these children with the help of the yet to be given tablets to hack into administration system of schools and frustrate process”.
