Assembly member sponsors mock exams for BECE candidates, admonishes students to show seriousness
Assembly member for the Adoato- Adumanu electoral area in the Bantama constituency of the Ashanti region, Hon. I. K Acheampong has sponsored over 200 BECE candidates to take up a MOCK exams, ahead of their final examination. The schools he sponsored included Adumanu M/A JHS, Imam Malik Arabic JHS and Morning Star Academy JHS.
The honourable member who catered for the cost of all the eight subjects for the examination, also presented items such as answer booklets, shading papers and pencils etc to the teachers and students of the aforementioned schools.
Speaking to this reporter after the presentation, the honourable member disclosed that his love and passion for education informed his decision.
“I have education at heart and this is not the first one I’m doing. I usually organises free vacation classes for school children within my electoral area and when it comes to the mock exams too, this is not the first time. I also buy them Mathemathecal set too”. He revealed.
Hon. I.K Acheampong further disclosed that the teachers of the various schools earlier told him that the students were supposed to take four different MOCK examinations.
“They told me that two(2 ) out of the four(4) were to be sponsored by the GES, one)1) to be sponsored by the MP and the last one to be paid by the students. As an assembly member who has education at heart, I decided to sponsor the last one to free students and their parents”. He disclosed.
The assembly member has however urged all B.E.C.E candidates across the country to always learn hard and get involved when it comes to MOCK examination. According to him, students who take up MOCK exams and subsequently ask questions for teachers to clarify, usually pass the final exams with ease.
To parents and teachers, Hon. I.K Acheampong advised that they should provide the needed support for the candidates, thus, physically, psychologically, financially etc.
“To the parents, I humbly want to appeal to them to allow their wards to have enough time to study especially at this crucial moment. They shouldn’t overburden them with numerous household chores that could stress them. Being it your biological child or someone else’s child, you need to give them a bit freedom so that they can succeed in the battle ahead of them”. He said.
According to him, this crucial moment in the lives of the B.E.C.E candidates needs freedom, hence his appeal for the parents to always encourage their wards to learn instead of giving them pressure.
Hon. I.K Acheampong further appealed to teachers to provide psychological assistance to the children at the expense of doing things that may create fear and panic.
