Philanthropist and the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Quan Herbal and Spiritual Hospital, Dr Guan Bay, in collaboration with the Friends of Nature Global have presented 40 dual desks and projector worth GH¢10,000 to Kuntenase D/A Basic School in the Bosomtwe District of the Ashanti Region.
At a short ceremony to present the desks, Dr Guan Bay said the gesture was his widow’s mite for the School for being groomed into adulthood and a responsible citizen saying “it is my turn to show appreciation to the School and the community.”
Speaking to the Silver FM’s AKWADAA NYAME, he said, desks and the projector would helped the students to focus on their lessons and enable more children to attend school.
He noted that classroom furniture helped to create a conducive learning experience for children, supporting the comfort and posture of students throughout the school day.
Dr Guan added that, the donation was given upon the passionate appealed from the school. He stressed that, most of the students were finding it difficult to learn due to lack of funiture in the facility.
To curb these problem, Dr Guan Bay pledge to help the school with new desk and fulfilled the promise with 40 mono desks and projector.
He advised the students to take their studies serious to become somebody in future.”Don’t give yourself to men, they will destroy you and leave you, just focus on your studies’ Dr Guan told the girls”.
The donation was gladly received by Madam Angelina Quayson, Headmistress of the School and appealed to other old benevolent to emulate his example.
She said the donation was timely as some students in the school had to sit on the floor or three students share one desk to learn.
This, she said teaching and learning materials also enhance effective academic performance and underscored the need for all stakeholders to support the government in providing logistics to schools.
She said the gesture would go a long way to curtail several seating defects related to lying on the floor and appealed for infrastructural development, ICT centre, modern library, classrooms for KG 1, 2, 4, pupil and sanitary facilities to benefit the female students.
Madam Angelina Quayson in an interview with Akwadaa Nyame said the School could not cope with the congestion and appealed for other benevolent individuals to assist them.
