Sabiye Health Workers Intensify Fund Raising To Address Their Deplorable Health Facility’s Conditions
The health workers of Sabiye Health Centre in Sabiye, in the Banda District, have resumed series of calls in aid of provisions to curb their deplorable health facility.
This attempt has forced their movements in appealing to the communities, benevolent individuals, groups and organisations and the government to help renovate their various problems that dangerously hinder and retarding proper healthcare in Sabiye and its environs.
The Sabiye health centre has not seen any renovation since its establishment in 1998.
Dr. Napalba Stephen Tang, the Physician Assistant in charge of the Sabiye health centre in an interview with the media at the ceremony said the structure of the facility needs to be renovated, reroof, have expansion of wards to contain number of patients to ensure effective and quality healthcare to protect lives.
“The patients do not feel safe anytime it rained because of holes in the roofing and the ceilings, they try moving from one corner to the other just to escape from the rain as a result of the leaking roof, female and children are combined in one ward which can contain only 3 beds and a male ward which can contains only 2 beds. We are really suffering here”, he cried out.
“Our dispensary is also serving as store room, but the room is too scanty to contain that, our laboratory is full of packed medical items which are not suppose to be there, we don’t even have a scan machine, therefore patients go to Nsawkaw before they are able to be scanned.
This is a huge problem. We need help”, Dr. Stephen appealed.
The Physician Assistant described the deplorable facility as a threat to the lives and properties of the health workers and the community.
He also called for assistance from the community to complete the construction of the worker’s toilet facilities.
The District Chief Executive for Banda, Hon. Emmanuel Akoneh, promised to give 50 bags of cements and other items for the renovation and prayed that appeals to authorities and individuals will receive positive responses.
The DCE concluded in urging the community to be united and peaceful to towards the betterment of the health centre and the community.
