Accident claims two lives at Denkyira Nyinawusu

Two individuals were confirmed deceased by the National Ambulance Service after their bodies were extracted by the Diaso Fire personnel from a collision involving a tricycle, locally known as ‘Abobo Yaa,’ and a fuel tanker at Denkyira Nyinawusu.

Upon receiving the call at approximately 12:05 PM today, the Fire personnel swiftly proceeded to the scene and alerted the National Ambulance Service with the intent of saving lives.

Following the extrication of the two male riders, they were transferred to the National Ambulance Service, which subsequently handed them over to the Ghana Police Service for preservation and further investigation.

Eyewitness accounts reveal that the tanker, en route from Accra to Subin, developed a mechanical fault and was parked by the roadside when the tricycle attempted a turn and collided with the stationary tanker.

Subsequent to the extrication, the fire personnel were tasked with managing the leaking tanker to avert a fire outbreak and prevent an explosion. They engaged in temporary cooling of the tanker while awaiting the arrival of another tanker to safely discharge its contents.

The police are also directing road users, as half of the roadway has been obstructed by the incident.
