The Dunkwa-on-Offin police have arrested a man for allegedly beheading his wife at Atachem, a suburb of Dunkwa-on-Offin in the Central Region.

The yet-to-be-identified man who is said to be in his early 30s allegedly murdered his wife, Gifty, following a short misunderstanding that ensued between them on Friday, July 21.

According to residents, the couple is from Wassa-Saa in the Western Region where they had been living together.

The deceased is said to have left home a few days ago for Dunkwa-on-Offin in search of a job in a mining company, but the man followed up with her on Friday to convince her to return home.

For unknown reasons, the man was said to have lured the deceased to Dunkwa-Atachem near the Subin River, murdered her there, and attempted to flee the scene.

However, he was approached by some scrap dealers who noticed blood stains on him and questioned him, but the suspect claimed he had been stabbed by someone who had nearly robbed him.

Unconvinced, the scrap dealers arrested him and turned him over to the police, who investigated and discovered the crime.

Meanwhile, the woman’s decapitated body has been deposited at the Dunkwa Government Hospital morgue.
