Major reshuffle in Police
In a major reshuffle in the police, the home ministry yesterday transferred 16 deputy inspector generals (DIG) and 35 additional deputy inspector generals.
According to police sources, more changes in the posts of superintendent of police (SP) in several districts will take place within a couple of days.
The SPs play major roles during elections, and the changes only about six months before the polls are being seen as significant.
The home ministry yesterday issued two notifications regarding the transfers in the posts of DIG and additional DIG.
As per the notifications, Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Abu Kalam Siddique was transferred to Tourist Police, CID Additional DIG AKM Nahidul Islam was promoted to DIG, DMP Joint Commissioner Biplab Bijoy Talukdar was promoted to commissioner and transferred to Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP), Barishal Range DIG SM Aktaruzzaman was transferred to Dhaka Police Staff College, Highway Police DIG Mozammel Haque was appointed as Khulna Metropolitan Police Commissioner, and RMP Police Commissioner Anisur Rahman was transferred to Rajshahi Range as its DIG.
Besides, Rajshahi Range DIG Abdul Baten was transferred to Rangpur Range, Rangpur Range DIG Abdul Alim Mahmud to the Anti-Terrorism Unit, Armed Police Battalion DIG Jamil Hasan to Barishal Range, and Special Branch (SB) DIG Rakhfar Sultana Khanom to Sarada Police Academy in Rajshahi.
DMP DIG Zakir Hossain Khan was transferred to the Industrial Police, Additional DIG Moniruzzaman of SB was promoted to DIG, and Police Headquarters Additional DIG Mohammad Abdullah Baki was promoted to DIG and transferred to the Armed Police Battalion.
Tangail Police Training Centre Commandant Moinul Islam was transferred to Dhaka Training Driving School, and Dhaka Training Driving School Commandant Nazrul Islam to Tangail Police Training Centre.
