A shocking incident unfolded in Kpassa, located in the Nkwanta North Municipality of the Oti Region, as an assistant headmaster was discovered deceased with severe head injuries earlier today. The young man, whose identity has not been disclosed, had been brought back home by his family due to displaying signs of mental illness.

According to his family, alongside his mental health struggles, the assistant headmaster had been consuming excessive amounts of alcohol. In an attempt to find healing and solace, he was taken to a prayer camp with the hope of finding a remedy for his condition.

During his stay at the prayer camp, the assistant headmaster communicated his hunger and left to search for food. Tragically, it was during this time that he was involved in a hit-and-run incident, resulting in fatal head injuries. The vehicle involved reportedly struck him with significant force, causing the severe trauma that led to his untimely demise.

The following day, his family made the heartbreaking discovery of his lifeless body. The entire community is now reeling from the shock and mourning the loss of the assistant headmaster.

The circumstances surrounding this unfortunate incident raise concerns about the availability of proper mental health support and resources in the region. It emphasizes the need for increased awareness and access to mental health services, particularly in rural areas where such resources may be limited.
