Onyekachi Agu, a 32-year-old carpenter, was given a seven-year prison term for pouring acid on his ex-girlfriend Aishat Adefarati and her new boyfriend Monsuru Ahmed.
According to reports, Agu committed the crime in order to cope with the grief of his lover’s abandonment for another man when he ran out of money.
He is accused of following them as they left the restaurant, dousing them in acid, then hastily fleeing the scene, leaving them to their fate.
