NPP Parliamentary Primaries: Odotobiri Constituents Cry For Change

Residents of Odotobri Constituency in the Ashanti region have called on NPP delegates in the constituency to ensure that they vote for Parliamentary candidate who has the Constituency at heart and can lobby for development for the area.

According to them the Constituency is lacked behind when it comes to developmental projects all because they don’t have competent MP to serve their interest.

In an exclusive interview with Silver FM’s AKWADAA NYAME, residents from communities like Mile 9, Abuakwaa, Kwametanokrom, Oseikrom, Biribiwomanmu, Patase, Ofoako, Suhyenso, Adubirem, Donkoase, Bepotenten, Fahiakobo, and Numereso all in the Odotobri Constituency lamented that, the most vulnerable constituency in the country is Odotobri.

They were of the view that since the creation of the Constituency under the leadership of Hon Akwasi Gyamfi, incumbent MP, there has been no improvement in the area.Indicating that before the Constituency can see glory unless there’s change.

They however begged NPP delegates to ensure that there is change in the upcoming Parliamentary Primaries.

They however rooted for Mr Lot Awuah Sarpong, deputy director of procurement, National Service Scheme (NSS) as the only person who can serve the interest of the Constituency in Parliament.

They have therefore warn the incumbent Member of Parliament for Constituency not pick a nomination form to contest the party’s upcoming parliamentary primaries.

The residents told this reporter that, they will humiliate their Member of Parliament, Hon. Emmanuel Akwasi Gyamfi if he tries to act against their candid advice.

The residents says that the member of parliament has failed abysmally and in his five terms in office demonstrated gross incompetence and weak leadership and as such carries no convincing message for his constituents in the upcoming 2024 elections.

Chronicling their reasons for their unwavering stance against him, a farmer at Kwametanokrom, Opanin Yaw Bannie disclosed that, the MP’s poor performance has already been made known internationally by last year research conducted by the university of Ghana’s Department of Political sciences school of social sciences in collaboration with Konrad Adenauer stiftung on the 275 constituencies, which found Hon Emmanuel Akwasi Gyamfi amongst the ten worst performing MPs in the country.

Another residents from Suhyenso madam Rebecca Danso blamed their MP for not using his office to cause any development in the constituency though there have been countless projects under the committee he head in Parliament.

“We are dumbfounded that most of our communities are still living in darkness when MPs who has been in Parliament for almost 18 years now have not been able to help their communities hook onto the national electricity grid. What is the essence of having this man as our MP?..” , madam Rebecca added.

Touching on the use of his share of the MPs Common Fund, Mr Yaw Adade from Donkoase, a farming community with deplorable road asked their MP to provide the people with information on all that he has been using his part of the fund for as there has been no transparency and accountability in the manner the MPs Common Fund is used since 2004 when he started representing them in parliament.

The residents including their Chiefs has threatened to use all available means, including series of peaceful demonstrations, to show the legislator how fed up they are with his leadership and the need for him to save the image of his people in the Odotobri constituency by not considering even picking a nomination form when the time is due.
