COP Kofi Boakye retires from Police Service

The Director-General of Legal and Prosecution of the Ghana Police Service, Commissioner of Police (COP) Nathan Kofi Boakye (Esq.), will officially retire from the service today, Wednesday April 5, 2023, a day which coincides with his 60th birthday.

COP Kofi Boakye, is affectionately known as ‘Commander One’ and his exit is bond to create a vacuum in the service.

As at press time Tuesday evening, there was no official communication on if and when the Ghana Police Service would organize the honorary Pull-out ceremony for its newly resigned Director-General of Legal and Prosecution, COP Kofi Boakye.

The New Publisher can however confirm there would a private thanksgiving and prayer service for COP Kofi Boakye (Esq) at a residence in Accra this morning.

The retiring Commissioner of Police COP is an astute lawyer who made a reputable name for himself in the Service and became a household name across the country in 2005, when he was a ACP and led a team of men from the Greater Accra Regional Police Command to arrest the notorious armed robber, Ataa Ayi and some members of his dangerous gang.

Prior to the arrest and prosecution of Ataa Ayi and his gang in 2005, they were the cruelest and most wanted robbery gang in the country.

Kofi Boakye won the heart of Ghanaians largely because of his strong combative stance against armed robbery.

He is regarded by his colleagues and subordinates in the Service as a fearless and brave officer and had a natural gift for trailing and arresting robbery gangs.

During his tenure as the Ashanti Regional Police Commander, the Region and its people enjoyed total peace, devoid of robberies.

Also, the Ashanti Regional Police Command made some significant arrest of criminals during his days as the police head in the area.

Before coming to the Ashanti Region, COP Kofi Boakye had also chalked huge successes in the Western Region as the Regional Commander.

Commander One made sure that all the hardened criminals in the Western Region were also nabbed for law and order to reign there.

COP Kofi Boakye, as a reminder, also performed excellently in the Greater Accra Region when he served in that jurisdiction.

COP Kofi Boakye aside his exploits in fighting crime, is also credited for instilling discipline and hard work in personnel under his command.

Indeed, Commander One has faithfully and diligently served the country and he would surely be missed by the Ghana Police Service and Ghanaians in general.

Filasconews say “Ayekoo” to Commander One and also wish him well in all his future endeavors.
