5 feared dead as Boat carrying over 20 Mourners capsizes on Volta Lake

News coming in indicates that five(5) persons are feared dead on the Volta Lake after their boat capsized.
The boat according to the report was carrying 20 passengers including mourners from Azizanya to Azizakpe in the Volta Region.
The boat capsized on the Volta Lake due to overloading of passengers on board the boat.
Hon. Daniel Adzakpa, Azizakpe electoral area assembly man, confirming the sad news said the boat supposed not to transport 20 passengers.
He added that because of the overloading of passengers in the boat, it capsized in the middle of the Volta, indicating that the
Daniel Adzakpa also attributed the disaster to a stormy weather in the early hours of Saturday, March 18, 2023 while the mourners were being ferried to a funeral in Azizakpe.
In a 3news report sighted by GhanaWeb, about 5 persons have been reported dead amidst the search for the others by the rescue team.
Some residents upon hearing the news have thronged the river banks to help search for the victims.
