The Minister boasted that, the cattle herds menace in the Asante Akyem North District, especially Agogo, has not been expunged completely, but says Peace Council has helped to reducing the simmering tensions and cattle herds crimes in the area to the minimum.

Touching on the 2012 Supreme Court ruling about the removal of the district capital from Twedie to Foase in the Atwima Kwanwoma District, which brouhaha claimed human lives, Osei Mensah said the regional Peace Council played a key role to ensuring peace prevail in both towns.

Peace Council also mediated between the victims family and the government by making sure victims are compensated duely.

Not forgotten the clashes between some group of persons at Ahwiaa and the fierce security-Civilian banter at Ejura, Peace Council did not relent on their efforts to instill peace and pushed for justice for the affected people.

“I can tell you confidently that, the region has come to this far by reducing crimes, litigations, brawls among groups etc. with the immense support of the regional Peace Council.

Infact, sometimes they move in to red zone areas to resolve conflicts before we even go there. They deserve to be commended for their good services in the region and the people”, Hon. Simon Osei Mensah hailed praises on the Council during his speech.

He was quick to adding that, with all the hard and the numerous works that the Peace Council is doing, their office does not befit them, and they are also working with limited resources.

“All these massive and excellent works they are doing in the region, they don’t even have proper and well furnished apartment as their office and their resources are also not enough but still,…. they are delivering everyday.

I’m most grateful working together with such selfless leaders under my tenure as the Ashanti Regional Minister”, He added.

Finally, he disclosed that, the Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) will make sure the council gets a befitting office.
