JUST IN: 17 Die In Accident While Transporting Dead Body, 12 Injured
Tanga. 17 people were pronounced dead and another 12 injured in a freak road accident that occurred in the early hours of February 4, 2023, in Tanga region.
According to information provided by Tanga Regional Commissioner, Omary Mgumba, the accident involved the collision of two vehicles, leading to multiple deaths.
One of the vehicles involved in the accident is a Mitsubishi Fuso truck, and a Coaster bus carrying a dead body from Dar es Salaam to Moshi, with 26 people on board.
The bodies have been preserved at the Korogwe district hospital mortuary, with relatives now identifying the deceased.
Earlier information suggests that the cause of the crash was the high-speed and reckless driving of the Fuso driver, who tried to overtake another vehicle before coming face-to-face with the Coaster.
