The Bibiani- Anhwiaso-Bekwai Municipal Director of National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) who doubles as the constituency Financial Secretary for the New Patriotic Party, Mr Agyapong Stephen Anane has called on the government and other relevant stakeholders to assist them with relief items.
Speaking in an interview with Citieweb.com, he set forth one major challenge facing the office currently is insufficient relieving items for the victims of disaster.
He unfolded that, although the government has been helping, but the items provided are not ample to uphold the victims in case there is a disaster.
“I am pleading with mining communities, philanthropists and others to provide us with relieve items. The government is doing its part, but I will appeal to other shareholders to come to our aid.”
Mr Agyapong Stephen Anane mentioned several human activities which contribute to fire outbreaks. Citing bush fire, wrong wiring, hunting, smoking, and several others as contributing factors, especially during this harmattan season.
“We have recorded about six fire cases in 2023. We are in the harmattan season. I will entreat the public to avoid setting fire in the bush, smoking and leaving their gadgets on when leaving home. We have to take serious precautions about some of these minor mistakes in order to avoid disaster’’.
He emphasized, “Setting fire in the bush is criminal. I will press the public to abstain from any unwanted behaviours which put them into problems since the laws of the country frown on these attitudes”.
