“Death threats, police harassment, assault and other forms of target violence are driving me away from home in the Offinso South Municipality to seek safety in other jurisdiction.”

This is the weep of one Nana Yaw, a business man to press men in Offinso South Municipal Assembly of the Ashanti region.

He called on the New Patriotic Party (NPP) executives in Offinso South constituency and the entire Ashanti region to call the Offinso South Municipal Chief Executive to order, because he believes Kingsley Appiah is abusing his office to tarnish the name of the party in the region whiles appealing to the IGP, Dr. Akufo Dampare to intervene for justice.

The business man accused hon. Kingsley Appiah, the MCE of Offinso South Municipality for allegedly using police in Offinso to arrest and locked him up in the police cells on several occasions when he questioned him on why he have refused to keep to his promises on a business deal.

The young man mentioned that after going into agreement in 2019, he has since been working for the MCE and one Dr. Isaac Yaw Opoku who is now elected member of parliament for Offinso South Constituency in the 2020 presidential and parliamentary elections.

According to Nana Yaw, the two politicians engaged him for financial support to buy and sell affordable plots of land to over 80 NPP delegates prior to the NPP Parliamentary primaries but they have refused to pay him his commission as they promised.

He told journalist that, due to busy schedules of the member of Parliament, Dr. Opoku, the MCE is representing the MP and responsible for additional negotiations between the two parties on the business deal.

The business man stated that he payed gh¢300,000 to support Dr. Yaw Opoku and Kingsley Appiah to buy vast land from the chief of Anyankaso to be demarcated accordingly to delegates who expressed their interest to buy at gh¢7,000 per plot.

The business man said, Dr. Isaac Yaw Opoku and Kingsley Appiah also paid Gh¢100,000 making the total amount as Gh¢400,000 for the project.

Speaking to the media, Nana Yaw revealed that the MCE have succeeded to lure some of the delegates to retrieve the land’s documents he [Nana Yaw] have issued to them claiming the said documents are fake hence the delegates have no business on the land they bought.

The young man alleged that the MCE was heard on a leaked audio inciting the delegates to launch attacks and death threat on him [Nana Yaw] as a means of retrieving their money from the business man or they should consider it as a lost.

He stressed that per records available to him, the Offinso South MCE is engaging in double sales of land because, he is selling the same plot that have been bought by the delegates to different buyers which could trigger land dispute in the area.

Moreover, Nana Yaw said the MCE instructed the police to arrest and lock him up but he complained to the police that he’s unwell and that he needed treatment at the hospital.

He narrated that even on his hospital bed at St. Patrick’s hospital, he was guided by 3 armed policemen on the instructions from the municipal Chief executive.

He believes, the MCE is abusing his office to use the police couple with death threat on him so that he will stop demanding his commission from the profits.

Nana Yaw narrated that the Offinso municipal commander have tried on several attempt to settle the case but proved futile.

He said on January,7 2021, he was forcefully ordered at the police station to pay gh¢32,000 to the MCE when the MCE insisted that per his documentation the verification and calculations the business man still have some payment to settle.
