The chiefs and elders of the Tafo traditional council in Kumasi, Ashanti region, have urged the NPP government to as a matter of urgency work on their abandoned hospital project to see its completion before they act otherwise.

According to the chiefs, it was very worrying how the project which was started by the former President, J.A Kuffour has been abandoned by the subsequent governments despite several promises.

The disappointed chiefs who visited the site on Tuesday expressed worry over how the project has been left to rot in a bush for many years now.

The chiefs lamented how people keep dying due to lack of enough accommodation, especially, maternity blocks for female adults.

Some of the chiefs who described the neglect as unfortunate and a disappointment in the NPP government, threatened to lead their people in a massive demonstration should the government fail to do the needful.

“We’re tired of deception and neglect. Tafo deserves better, for how long would you expect people to die before doing the needful?.

We’re going to lead our people a massive demonstration to spit red”. The chiefs said in an interview with the media.

Some of the chiefs further disclosed in disappointment that their people massively vote for the NPP government but sadly get nothing in return.

They however commended the former Member of Parliament, Dr. Anthony Akoto for his excellent execution during his tenure as MP.

Nana Agyen Frimpong Ababio, the chief of the Tafo traditional area, speaking in a press conference said, it was very sad that every new government or person in post wants to start a new project at the expense of an old abandoned project. The chief suggested that there must a law that should compel subsequent governments to continue projects that was started by the previous government.

According to him, it was very worrying that several appeals have been made to subsequent governments but no action has been taken.

The chief who expressed some level of disappointment urged the government to immediately turn its attention to the huge hospital project that has been abandoned in the bush.

According to him, politicising everything in this country will not help the growth and development we want as a nation.

Nana Agyen Frimpong Ababio further urged the NPP’s national organiser, Nana Boakye aka Nana B to immediately continue with another project which he started during his birthday celebration last two years.
