E/R: We will give each aspirants a fair level playing ground in the upcoming primaries – NPP Scribe assures

Many party faithfuls are lasing their boots to contest in the upcoming parliamentary and presidential primaries of the governing New Patriotic Party.

Though the NPP party is yet to announce timelines for the primaries, potential candidates are vigorously selling their messages to delegates behind close doors.

The Secretary of the party in the Eastern Region, Tony Osei Adjei speaking with Igwe Gyan on Afeema fm’s Ɛnɛ Ghana Political Talk Show Monday night, he disclosed that, the happenings and decisions taken some time ago prior to primaries affected the party negatively in the general elections causing them to lose some seats.

According to him, the new crop of leadership in the region will ensure such mistakes don’t repeat itself as they walk into the upcoming primaries.

The NPP Scribe disclosed that, together with his Chairman, Jeffrey Kunadu Addo and the regional executives, they have began engagements with various potential aspirants on running an issue based campaign devoid of insults and personal attack and character assassinations.

“One thing we are trying to do to make sure there’s stability in the region is to speak to the potential aspirates that the party in the region want to run an issue based campaign and that is the message we going to tell them. Politics of insults and fabricatios breeds devision and it makes selling the elected candidate difficult”, he said.

The New Patriotic Party in 2020 general elections lost some seats due to the fractions and mafialism that happened during their primaries.

These happenings caused some aspirants to run as independent candidates.

The president, Nana Akufo-Addo was seen campaigning publicly against an independent candidate who later won the elections in Fomena, Ashanti Region.

Tony Osei Adjei assured that, they will allow delegates to elect their preferred candidate who they can market easily to win the parliamentary elections.

“We are not going to shelve any MP, we are going to allow the constituents to pick their own candidate, we are going to allow the polling station executives to pick it. When they pick their candidate, it will be easier for them to market it”, he added.

In an assurance to the party members in the region, Tony Osei Adjei told Igwe Gyan that, the regional executives will give everyone contesting a fair level playing ground in the upcoming primaries but they will not allow anyone to run the opponent down during their campaign which they expecting to be devoid of personal attack and character assassinations.

The work of the new leadership of the New Patriotic Party in the Eastern Region looks satisfactory after seven months in office.

The current administration has renovated and expanded their regional office which was a laughing stock sometime ago.

Just seven days after swearing into office, they had their first trial text when they had to resolve and organize Constituency elections in the Akuapem North constituency which the execution was excellent.

They are currently reorganizing fresh polling station to constituency elections at the Akwatia Constituency as ordered by court.

The thirty three (33) constituencies has also been divided into six (6) blocs to ensure the smooth running and coordination of the party activities.

The New Juaben South and North constituencies, Akuapem North, Akuapem South and Suhum makes the Juaben bloc.

The Abuakwa bloc comprisses of Abuakwa North and South, Fanteakwa North and South, Atiwa East and West. The Krobo bloc is also made up of Upper Manya and Lower Manya Krobo, Yilo Krobo and Asuogyaman constituencies. Nsawam Adoagyiri, Ayensuano, Akwatia, Kade, Upper West and Lower west Akyem also makes the Sikaman bloc.

They also have the Akyemansa bloc which is made of Ofoase Ayirebi, Asene Manso Akroso, Akyease, Akim Oda, Akim Swedru and finally the Kwahu bloc which is also made of Afram Plains North and South, Mpreaso, Nkawkaw, Abetifi and Abirem. These six operational blocs have regional executives manning and coordinating their activities effectively.

The Jeff Kunadu and Tony Osei Adjei administration has been a one which deserves commendations.
