Tears, blood flow as unknown gunmen cut off Local Government Boss’ head
The residents of Oforikrom in the Oforikrom Municipality of the Ashanti Region are lamenting over what they describe as a neglect on the part of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Government.
According to the residents, they have been neglected by the party they voted for. “We have been neglected by own government”.
The aggrieved residents during a demonstration in Oforikrom said there is no developmental project in the Oforikrom Constituency to point out under the leadership of their two government representatives, i.e the Member of Parliament (MP) and the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE).
The residents clothed in red and black hit the streets in Oforikrom to register their displeasure to the government.
Leader of the Concerned Youth Group in Oforikrom Mr. Jerry J Suka in an interview with the media said, Oforikrom is in a deplorable state hence their action to draw the government’s attention to their problems.
He pointed out that roads in the municipality are poor, adding that insecurity is also a major challenge for the people as there are incessant robbery cases in the area due to lack of streets lights in the Municipality.
The natives of Oforikrom in addition disclosed that, the main bridge helping people’s movement in the Constituency has been collapsed for years but the MCE Hon Abraham Antwi and the MP Dr. Emmanuel Marfo have turned deaf ear after several complains have been made to them.
The people are therefore calling on the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo to sack the MCE.
They have also asked the MP Hon Emmanuel Marfo to honourably resign from his post as MP, saying he has failed the people and don’t deserve to represent them anymore.
“We are calling on them, the MP and the MCE to resign by themselves else we will show them the exist in 2024 general elections”, some of the angry youth said.
