ANIDA Women’s Development Center supports Women on Skills Training

The All Nations International Development Agency (ANIDA), had, through the Women’s Development Centre (WDC), rescued 35 women and men through its educational sponsorship empowerment program.

The graduands, during their training in the University emphasized on marketing, computer literacy, reading, writing, speaking of the English language, hairdressing and others.

The ANIDA Women’s Development Center was established in 2004 as a way to provide women in Ghana access to education and empower them to create positive change in their lives, families and communities through basic business skills, to enable them manage their businesses.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony on Thursday, 17, at All Nations University City Campus in Koforidua, the co-founder and member of ANIDA board Rev. Mrs. Rose Donkor mentioned that, since the establishment, had equiped women to make them contribute tremendously towards nation building.

Commenting on the theme for this year’s 14th Graduation ceremony “Importance Of Women’s Education In Today’s World” Mrs Rose Donkor said the theme for the occasion was well chosen because she questioned that “without women what will the society be” emphasizing that Women are equiped, hardworking, relentless couples with positive societal qualities.

Rev. Dr. Rose Donkor told Kaakyire Kwasi Afari of Afeema FM that the 2 year’s intensive training will make the graduands unique among their fellow men and women, this is because they had been offered the requisite support to turn things around in their localities.

She charged the graduands to motivate teenagers who would notice them as a role model in their various communities.

The co-founder advised that “this is the beginning of your journey. The certificate given to you is not to sit on your shelves or to decorate the walls but this is the time for you to apply what you’ve learnt” she added.

Dr. Rose Donkor also asked them to set ambitious goals for themselves and also have the mindset that it was achievable while urging them on to never stop learning, saying there was always something new to learn.

For his part, the Executive Director for ANIDA, Mr. Samuel Donkor Junior in a sideline interview disclosed to Kaakyire Kwasi Afari that ANIDA is reaching its programmes to other parts of the world adding that ANIDA is envisioned to empower women to become financially independent.

He said, ANIDA Women’s Development Center is looking forward for a strong and international acknowledgement and provide financial support to qualifying graduates to pursue tertiary education.

The chief superintendent of police (CSP) Mariam Adu Osei, Kwahu Nkwatia Divisional Police Commander calls on Ghanaians to break the wide gender gap especially against women because in her knowledge, women suffers in the country in terms of representatives in government as well as in other areas of public and services.

Speaking as a guest speaker at the graduation ceremony, Mariam Adu Osei, calls for commitment from Ghanaians to empower women through providing the needed support towards capacity building, training, and dedicated
gender equality structures.

The police commander said “when educated women build a career as witnessing today, it adds to the socio-economic growth by making them financially independent to be in a better position to take good care of their families resulting in decreasing the cases of poverty levels within the country” she stressed.

She underscore the need for Government and relevant stakeholders to support women who are in helm of decision making positions.

Fulera Abdul Karim, a beneficiary of the initiative commended All Nations University through the ANIDA Women’s Development Center, had been unrelenting in their support for the job fair.

She promised to put the requisite training into use, adding that the world was not read to support any individual to build on his dreams.
