KSTSHS: Parents angry over suspended PTA meeting

Parents who travelled from far and near attending the PTA meeting scheduled Sunday 6th November 2022 at Kumasi Secondary Technical Senior High School (KSTSHS) could not hide their anger and frustrations after the meeting was scheduled without a justifiable reason.

The meeting’s agenda for the conduct of election of fresh executives was suspended by the incumbent chairman Rev Dr Mike Gyimah Kessie on a late notice with no reasons assigned.                                                                  Communication to suspend the meeting appeared on the PTA group WhatsApp platform very late at 10.30 pm a day before the meeting. A follow- up audio message for the same directive got to the platform the very morning of the intended meeting. Scores of parents who thronged the school for the exercise were visibly stranded at the turn of events with no explanation whatsoever from any quarters.

The disappointed parents who spoke to this reporter extended their anger and frustrations to the headmaster Alexander Boateng for supervising over such rude, crude and disrespecting decision of the incumbent PTA chairman. Suspicion was rife among the parents suggesting that the incumbent chairman whose term of office is due has something under his sleeves for a possible cover up in his administration.

Some parents complained of lack of accountability of PTA funds they have contributed with nothing to show of. Concerns were raised by the parents over activities expected to have carried out by the PTA to support the current educational challenges of the school.

They accused the current executives for running one man show administration and not being consultative when taking decisions. They have therefore dared the incumbent chairman who has served four years as executive and additional two terms as chairman to discard any intention of entrechment.

The also reminded him of the readiness to account for his stewardship as prescribed by law.
