Ellen White SDA Basic School Gets 6-unit Classroom Block From New Juaben South Assembly

The New Juaben South Municipal Assembly has handed over a six-unit classroom block and an office complex to the staff and pupils of Ellen White SDA Basic School in Koforidua of the Eastern region.

In at a short ceremony on Thursday, 29th September, 2022, commissioned the newly constructed project for use.

The classroom block at Ellen White SDA Basic School can brag of modern and standard fittings such as store rooms, and teachers’ staff common room among others.

The Municipal Coordinating director Mr, Edward Abazing speaking on behalf of the Municipal Chief Executive, hon. Isaac Apaw Gyasi, he said, the provision of the educational infrastructure is part of his determination to uplift the face of the educational sector in the Municipality by the Assembly.

Mr. Edward Abazing told Afeema FM’s journalist Kaakyire Kwasi Afari, that education is key to every development; hence the MCE has decided to make education a priority for the betterment of every child in the area.

He was optimistic that the Newly Commissioned edifice will go a long way to enhance teaching and learning, adding that the school block will improve student’s to classroom ratio.

Mr. Abazing charged the students to take their studies seriously especially as they prepare to partake in this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination.

On the maintenances culture, the MCE charged both the teachers and the community members to pay attention to the facility and put it into good use.

The Municipal Education Director for New Juaben South also showed his appreciation to the Assembly, the MCE and the government as a whole for their dedication and contribution to the education sector most especially Koforidua.

He then again said the education directorate is determined to providing quality education to all school going age therefore, he encourages parents and guardians to enroll their children in schools in the municipality.

On his part, the headteacher of Ellen White SDA Basic School, Boakye Acheampong acknowledged the MCE and the Assembly’s effort to bring development to the doorsteps of the school.

To him, giving pupils the most comfortable environment for quality teaching and learning were one of the topmost priorities since becoming the headmaster in 2017.

However, he requested for additional amenities such as upgrading the road leading to the school, toilet facility, playing grounds and adequate security for the pupils.

Weed smokers have taken over the Ellen White SDA Basic School which the school is now being used as base for weed smoking, Mr. Acheampong said.

The headteacher lamented that weed smokers, usually come to the school in the night and use the campus as their smoking base which they sometimes break into the offices to destroy and steal some properties which is a major problem for them now.

Speaking to Afeema News, some student expressed their appreciation to the MCE for constructing the beautiful edifice.

They said, the new classroom block will encourage parents to bring their wards to the school which will go a long way to increase enrollment and academia.
