Driving school drivers contributing to road accidents – GPRTU Chairman

The Accra-Kaneshie to Cape Coast-Takoradi Station Chairman of the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) has blamed most accidents on the roads to drivers who are trained by driving schools.

Mr. John Kwasi Ansah has suggested that such drivers must be taken through another form of driving by a commercial drivers to enhance their experience.

Statistic by the National Road Safety Authority indicates that about 1,300 persons have been killed through road traffic crashes from January to June this year.

Additionally, 7,997 persons have sustained various injuries through road accidents within the same period.

The deaths and injuries, according to the statistics, were as a result of 7,687 crashes which occurred across the country involving 13,248 vehicles.

Meanwhile, the Accra-Kaneshie to Cape Coast-Takoradi GPRTU Chairman in an interview with Onua TV stressed that most accidents are occurring because of drivers who were trained by the driving school.

He further blamed most of the accidents to the various steep speed rams on the road.
