Policewoman, two others killed in car crash on the Aflao-Tema highway(VIDEO)
The bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the Police Hospital mortuary in Accra
Mary Esinam Ahiafianyo, an assistant superintendent of police (ASP) and two others have been confirmed dead after they were involved in an accident on the Aflao-Tema highway on Monday (8 August) dawn.
According to a police statement, “On Monday (8 August) about 5:00 am, suspect driver George Agbeko aged 46 years was in a Toyota Corolla saloon with registration No. GN 1136-18 with four persons including ASP Mary Esinam Ahiafianyo from Aflao to Accra whilst suspect driver David K. Aggrey aged 29 years was in charge of Hyundai Elantra Touring saloon car with registration no. DV 4123-2022 alone from Tema to Aflao.”
Police investigators disclosed that “On the section of the road, about 500 metres to Dawa on the main Tema-Aflao highway, it is believed George Agbeko [Corolla driver] overtook a vehicle ahead and came into the opposite lane and crashed head-on with the Hyundai Elantra.”
Meanwhile, both drivers who also sustained various degrees of of injury are currently receiving treatment at the Sege Polyclinic.
