SAD NEWS: Tamale Technical University loses a Rector

Former Rector of Tamale Technical University, Professor Peligah has died.

The death has been reported of a former Rector of the Tamale Technical University (TATU) Professor Peligah Yakubu Seidu.

The Retired Professor of Art Therapy and Art Education and former Dean, Faculty of Creative Arts and Technology at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) died on Wednesday night.

Details of the cause of death remain sketchy but sources reveal he would be buried later today July 28, 2022, in accordance with the Islamic custom in view of the fact he is a devout Muslim.

Professor Peligah obtained a doctorate in Art Therapy at Birmingham School of Art in 1994. After graduating, he returned to Ghana to continue his academic career at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi, eventually becoming Head of Art Education and Vice Dean of the Faculty of Art in 2006.

Professor Peligah later took up appointment as Rector of the Tamale Polytechnic, now Tamale Technical University. In 2012 he was appointed Dean of the Faculty of Creative Arts and Technology at the Kumasi Polytechnic, now Kumasi Technical University, before retiring in 2016.

Prof. Yakubu Seidu Peligah has for many years served on the Islamic University College of Ghana Council (IUCG). He’s also a foundation member of the IUCG, making sure that the IUCG began on a sound footing. His commitment to the IUCG and every other humanitarian course is worthy of commendation.
