IMF Bailout will restore confidence in the Economy – Hon. Boahen

A balance of payment support schedule from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) will bring stability and replenish the confidence of Ghana’s economy, the District Chief Executive for Suaman, in the Western North Region, Hon. Boahen Philip has said.

The DCE noted that policy credibility will help achieve fiscal and debt sustainability to restore economic challenges in the country.

He accounted that the NPP government wished not to go to the IMF for intervention to stabilize the economy.

However, according to the Chief Executive, under the circumstances of the Covid-19 pandemic and the Russia-Ukraine war, the government had no choice but to seek a critical bailout to stabilize businesses, therefore urging Ghanaians to agree the dogma and support the idea of going to the IMF for intervention.

Speaking with Appiah Kubi, on Tain FM Anopa Nkommo show, Hon. Boahen reiterated that with introspect to what led the NDC to seek IMF bailout during Mahama’s administration, is a total disparity between what Ghanaians are experiencing today, therefore not to snigger the government about the bailout.

“We’re going to IMF just to make sure the economy does not exacerbate so we’ll not let any alternative inhibit the government’s agenda, though its propagation intricate to Ghanaians”, the DCE expressed.

He further detailed that the ideas and plans for transforming the economy should not be lost, therefore needs everything possible to transient the economic crisis.

He concluded that the government is creating an enabling environment to sustain the nation’s economic growth; hence the initiative of the green-net and the YouStart program to poise the economy to excel than the previous NDC government.
