The Electoral Commission of Ghana through the director of Electoral Services, Dr. Serebour Quicoe has finally revealed all the details about the “new voters register” claims made by the minority in parliament yesterday.

The minority in Parliament revealed to the media yesterday that the Electoral Commission led by Jean Mensa is planning to do a new voters register at a cost of $80M.

Meanwhile, Dr. Serebour revealed that nobody in the electoral commission is planning to do a new voters register.

He added that the commission has rather sent a CI to Parliament which is to ensure that you can do a voters ID card with your Ghana card when you turn 18 years without having to always compile a new register.

He told Sefa Kayi on Peace FM’s Kokrokoo.

“We have seen that the country always spends a lot of money to compile a new voters register and so we needed to stop that.

The commission has sent a CI to Parliament which will ensure that anyone who turns 18 years and is not part of the register can be part by just registering with the Ghana card.

We have confidence in the register done in 2020 and we have no intention of discarding it.

So we want to do continuous registration rather than the limited registration or new registration.” Dr. Serebour boldly revealed this on Peace FM.
