A section of the traders in the new Kejetia market in Kumasi, the Ashanti capital has threatened to embark on a demonstration in support of concerns earlier raised by other traders concerning the current leadership of the enclave.
The traders who are accusing their leaders of mistrust are demanding for the criteria used in the allocation of bills forwarded to them just last week.
Available complaints to this reporter from the traders suggest inconsistency, inaccuracy and bias on the part of the leaders.
There has been serious questions raised on the formation and operations of the current leadership structure from the traders calling for its dissolution.
Last week’s distribution of bills broke the camel’s back.
The bills which cover the period from May 2021 to May 2022 settle payments on electricity, security and sanitation.
Payment ranges from Five Hundred to Ten Thousand Ghana Cedi (Gh500-10,000) depending on type of structure.
Apart from those occupying stores, others perching on tables whose occupation raises suspicion because their data is not captured in the original list were not spared.
The traders after revealing series of allegations against the leaders alluded the situation to what they describe as leadership failure which is an attestation to the call for fresh elections for new leaders to manage the market.
