Leave The Cathedral For The Christians To Fund Themselves- Rev. Opuni To President
Reverend. Dr. Kwabena Opuni Frimpong, a Former Secretary For Christian Council of Ghana, has stated that, the Government, led by H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo should let the Christians in the Country fund the building of the National Cathedral.
According to Dr. Opuni Frimpong, it would be unfair for the Government to use state coffers money to build the Cathedral for them(Christians).
He backed his advice by citing an example that, ‘Would the Christians be happy if traditional person is elected as the Country’s President and he also decide to build the biggest Shrine in the whole Africa in Ghana for the traditional believers with the state’s money?’
Adding that, same thing would be applied when a Muslim brother is elected as President and build National mosque and fund it with Ghana’s money, saying it will sound distasteful for Christians.
Therefore, Mr. Opuni is entreating the President to leave the National Cathedral’s construction for the Christians to bear bear their own cost.
“It is my humble opinion and advice to the President to allow us(Christians) to build it ourselves”, Dr. Opuni who is also a Lecturer at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) stressed.
The Rev. Minister was speaking on Peace midday news in Accra on Thursday, June 16, 2022, monitored by Filasconews.com.
He was quick to adding that, the objective behind the building is Laudable and should be supported by all citizenry.
