Kyidomhene Cry For Help To Fight Teenage Pregnancy As Locals Use Charm ‘For Girls’
Kyidomhene of Nsawkaw Traditional Council who doubles as the Chief of Njau in the Tain District of the Bono Region, Nana Anokone Sarpong Kumankuma, is appealing to the general public for support to fight increasing rate of teenage of teenage pregnancies in his community as youngmen use Charm(for girls) to impregnate girls.
He disclosed that, the youth go for Juju from Mallams in the area to charm their peers.
According to disturbed Chief in an interview today on Kumasi based Silver FM’s Omanbapa Morning Show hosted by Nana Kwabena Ampratwum, at least 20 teenage girls are pregnant in the town, which is very worrying.
He said all efforts by Nananom to curb the menace have proven futile therefore calling for help from the public.
Though he said, Nananom will not relent on their efforts to stop the alarming spate of teenage girls getting pregnant by their peers,calling for support would also help them strategize will to uproot it once and for all.
The Chief who is also the Kyidomhene of Nsawkaw Traditional Council blamed part on parental negligence on some parents in the town.
He said the impoverish state of many parents and guardians are the major factor bleeding teenage pregnancies as some girls are being given to men in order to getting their daily bread.
“At a large degree, I’ll blame the parents because when the children reach JHS or when they complete the JHS, the parents do not take care of them again. They can’t even continue to SHS, so what they do is to dwell on the boys, hence the indiscriminate teenage pregnancy”, he bemoaned.
He therefore advised parents to take care of their wards and ensure that they are properly educated for the well-being of their future“.
“At least Twenty teenage pregnancies are recorded every year in a community with less than 1000 people”, Nana Kumankuma stressed in the interview monitored by Filasconews.com.
