Calm Returns At Islamic SHS After Minister’s Visit And IGP’s Action
Calm has returned at Islamic Senior High School at Abrepo Junction in the Bantama Constituency of the Ashanti Region.
This came to past after the Deputy Education Minister and the Inspector General of Police (IGP) visited the school and does the needful.
On Monday, June 13, 2022, police in the Ashanti Region opened tear gas at rioting students of Islamic Senior High School.
Mr. George Akuffo Dampare (IGP) and Hon. Ntim Fordjour visited the place to calm down tension.
The high ranking members visited health facilities where several students who were affected by the tear gas were admitted and receiving treatment.
After the visit, the IGP instructed the removal of the Acting Regional Commander and interdicted.
The Suame Divisional Police Commander and one other have also been interdicted to pave way for investigation into the matter.
This morning, June 14, Tuesday, 2022, the Deputy Education Minister, Hon. Ntim Fordjour revisited the school to speak to the students and the school authorities.
The Minister assured the ministry’s preparedness to fighting for justice for the school especially the affected students.
The Minister cooled down potential tempers and advised the students and their teachers to go by their normal duties as the Ministry takes up the matter with the police.
The students after the Minister’s speech expressed gratitude and excitement signs drew on their faces.
As at now, calm has been restored at the place.
