AKOMADAN: Tomato Farmers Cry For Help

Akomadan in the Offinso North District of the Ashanti Region is commonly known as tomatoes production community.

The produce tomatoes in large quantities.

But, the farmers are bitterly crying for help.

In an interview today, Wednesday, June 14, 2022, with Akomadan based Cruz FM reporter, Robert Gyamfi, the farmers lamented over low price of tomatoes on the market.

They also wailed about lack of customers nowadays to buy their goods due to hardship in the country.

The prices of the commodity according to the frustrated farmers are Ghc 120 for the Mini Box and Ghc 250 for the bigger one.

They disclosed in the interview that, people are not buying their farm produce and the goods are rotting.

One Kofi Asamoah, a tomato farmer at Akomadan, said the price of tomatoes currently are not stable on the market, therefore, buyers give their will price to them, farmers, which is worrying.

They called on the authorities to support them providing modern warehouses to prevent tomatoes from rotting and keep it long.
