Overall Best Farmer has expressed his displeasure over the prize giving best farmers in the country by the government.
According to the Twifo Atti-Morkwa 2020 overall District Best Farmer, Mr. Isaac Agyiri popularly known as ShowBoy, it is encouraging looking at the sweats of farmers and their prizes.
In an interview with Nana Ampratwum on Silver FM today, November 24, 2021, about how the country can improve agriculture and the livelihood of farmers, Mr. Agyiri expressed bitterness about the usual machetes and a pair of safety boots that are given to the overall district best farmers to celebrate them on farmers’ day in the country.
He has described the gesture as disrespect and descouraging to Ghanaian farmers.
“I won the award last year. I only received aboboyaa, fertilizers, Wellington Boots and other small small items”, he revealed on the show this morning monitored by filasconews.
He is therefore calling on the government to improve the package of the overall district best farmers to get more people particularly the youth into agriculture.
