Calm Returns To Nkoranza Following Dampare’s Visit
The Inspector General of Police Dr. George Akuffo Dampare on Wednesday 25th May, 2022 paid a visit to Nkoranza in the Bono East Region where there have been uneasy calm after Police clashed with the Youths following the arrest and subsequent death of a suspect Albert Kwasi Donkor popularly known as Baluso.
The IGP accompanied by Very Senior Officers from the Ghana Police Headquarters in Accra solidarized with the family of late Albert Donkor at the Mother Madam Comfort Gyamea’s house, visited riots casualties who are receiving treatment at Nkoranza St. Theresa’s Hospital, went to the Nkoranza Municipal Chief Imam Sheikh Osman Yeboah, paid homages to the Ankobeahene of Nkoranza and Omanhemaa Nana Yaa Dudaa Kanii Mmrosa 2nd and finished at the vandalized Nkoranza District Police Station.
Addressing the Media in Nkoranza on Thursday to end the IGP’s 2-day visit, DCOP Kwesi Ofori Director General of Public Affairs at the Ghana Police Service chronicled the turn of events since the issue erupted and how the Police intend to bring justice and long lasting peace to Nkoranza.
DCOP Kwesi Ofori further stated that the Police will continue to engage the affected families and Nkoranzaman as the investigations progress but was quick to add that the Police Administration has redefined Communication strategy as part of it’s transformational agenda therefore urged members of the public to be circumspect in their commentaries on these matters.
Finally, the the Police Director General of Public Affairs cleared that air that some five (5) men in a viral picture with late Albert Donkor are not Police Officers hence all should disregard the notion that the late suspect had some kind of links with the Nkoranza Police.
Meanwhile, Newsmen after the IGP’s visit met with late Albert Donkor’s family who are now quite reliefed and is of higher hopes that Dr. Dampare will go by his words to deliver the justice they seek.
