GFA Denies Official Nationality Switch Of Players

The Ghana Football Association has denied reports of official nationality switch of foreign-born players. It will be recalled that a number of foreign-born players have been linked to playing for the Black Stars.

A number of names including Hudson Odoi, Edward Nketiah, Inaki Williams, Nico Williams, Tariq Lamptey and many more who have Ghanaian lineage have been linked to joining the team in Qatar for the 2022 world cup.

There have been reports that some players have completed the nationality switch and some Ghanaians were happy to hear the news.

A lot of people are looking forward to Ghana presenting a formidable squad to the world cup and are expecting some names that have been mentioned here to make the team. Some of these high profile players have indicated their readiness to play for the country.

A few days ago, London-based Ghanaian coach confirmed on Kumasi-based Pure FM that Tariq Lamptey has completed his switch to play for Ghana.

With players like the Williams brothers, reports were that their parents had agreed for them to play for Ghana and that the GFA had started the process for their switch.

Callum Hudson-Odoi’s case is like the Williams brothers. Reports are that the process for the nationality switch has begun.

Perhaps because of the anxiety for these high profile players to play for Ghana, some people have concluded that they have officially concluded the process for playing for Ghana.

The Ghana Football Association says no foreign-born player has officially completed his nationality switch.
