Demonstration Against illicit Selling of Community lands hits Patasi

Furious royal family members including some residents of Patasi a suburb of Kumasi in the Ashanti Region have demonstrated today to register their displeasure over allege selling of community lands.

At an early hour of Friday 13th May 2022, the angry residents including the unit committees chairman storm some principal street of Patasi with inscription on placards massages with some reading , Stay off our land, stop selling our lands, We know who is behind and many more.

According to the furious demonstrators, the land has been the only Open land available to the Patasi community and that they will resist any attempt to sell the land especially to private developers to develop the land for their own personal interest.

Nana Yaw Amponsah Darkwah, a royal in an interactions with the media during the demonstration said the over 30 Acres of land was given to Ghana Telecom now voda phone by their forefathers at a specific time frame, now the time is due and they have gathered information that unknown individuals have started selling the land to private developers.

Nana Darkwah further explained that they (Royal family members) confronted their Abusuapani (Family head), Queen mother and their chief Nana Adu Ansere Sarpong, Otumfour Abenasehene of which they all denied knowledge of the allegations.

They are therefore demonstrating to send a word of caution to the general public to desist from acquiring the said land because the land belongs to the community and that they want to see projects that will benefit the whole Community, because the community lack a lot of developmental projects including a palace.

Some of the aggrieved Royal family members also expressed their displeasure during the demonstration.
