ATIGTA: Pressure Mounts On Wontumi To Step Down For Allegedly Pocketing GH¢21m Party Cash

The founder and leader of United Progresive Party (UPP) Kwasi Addae Odike has disclosed that some bigwigs in the governing New Patriotic Party NPP want the incumbent chairman for the party in the Ashanti Region, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, branded as “Wontumi ” to step down in the upcoming primaries.

According to him, Chairman Wontumi has recently come under intensed pressure from party members after allegedly failing to account for some GH¢21 million which was meant for party activities in the region

Akwasi Addae Odike who was a pannel member on the Kumasi based OTEC FM’s afternoon Political show “Dwabrem” noted that othe party’s stalwarts in the Region are seething with anger after learning that Mr Benard Antwi Boasiako was given Gh¢21 million by the national leadership of the party for which he has failed to render accounts.

“I am reliably informed that some staunch party members from both national and regional have advised chairman Wontumi to step aside for sanity to prevail in the party ”

” They are not happy with him, his attitude and how he has woefully failed to add up to the votes in the Ashanti Region and are calling on him to bow out of the regional chairmanship race to save the NPP from losing votes in the Ashanti Region” He told the host of the program, Dr Cash on Monday May 9, 2022.

“I personally believe Chairman Wontumi is on the verge of collapsing the ruling party in their strong hold and so changing him remains the best option for them”.
