SAD NEWS: 2 People Killed, Three Others Injured As Honda Fit Collides With A Train
Two people were killed while 3 others were injured after a Honda Fit collided with a train at a railway crossing in Hillside area, Harare on Tuesday morning.
Zimbabwe Republic Police spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the accident.
Ass Comm Nyathi said:
Two people have since died and Police are currently working with other emergency service providers to bring the situation back to normalcy.
Police appeals to all motorists who use Chiremba Road to connect to Robert Mugabe Road to find alternative routes.
Meanwhile, six people were reportedly killed in another horrific accident involving a haulage truck and a commuter omnibus on Tuesday morning in Bulawayo.
The accident occurred at the traffic light intersection at Nkulumane Shopping Complex around 5.30 am.
The haulage truck was travelling from Nkulumane while the omnibus was heading to the Bulawayo central business district, coming from Pumula South.
According to witnesses, the commuter omnibus was speeding before ramming onto the haulage truck.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police is yet to confirm the number of people killed in the accident, but unconfirmed reports say at least six people have died.
iHarare had also reported that census enumerators are encountering violent hostilities from respondents.
The attacks on enumerators have triggered fears that data being collected from the ongoing programme could be compromised.
On Monday, Ministry of Information spokesman, Nick Mangwana revealed that there have been several reports of enumerators being assaulted.
Also, one enumerator was sacked after she turned up for work drunk.
